Yoav Ekshtein suggested an idea (#2280) · Nov 28, 2017 at 03:23 PM · execution servercloudshell
right now , the only way to do this is using a key that will make ALL blueprint commands use that ES.
I want a way to make a specific blueprint command use a specific execution server.
Dan Michlin commented · Nov 30, 2017 at 08:46 AM
Hi Yoav, Thank you for the suggestion , can you please provide an example for such a command that would require specific execution server?
Yoav Ekshtein commented · Nov 30, 2017 at 08:51 AM
yes.
for example there was a customization to take logs from the execution server. (there were a few)
it didn't make sense to put it on a service, but I had to because I couldn't make sure it would run on the execution server I wanted otherwise
So why not to suggest this idea instead? being able to collect all logs from all execution servers?
Yoav Ekshtein commented · Nov 30, 2017 at 08:54 AM
another example is that the server is geographically far away from the where the resources are placed , and you want to run all your commands locally. you can for resource\service\app , not for blueprint.
The orchestration scripts meant to just do orchestration, and if so, they will use the APIs to execute commands on other shells. In such cases, it doesn't matter where the orchestration scripts will run, but it should be closer to the server (to reduce the api delay) as opposed to closer to the resources.
While I also think we need a better way than all or nothing, not sure this should be the reason.

Hi @Yoav.E,
thank you for the information, we will consider adding this idea to the backlog

Hi,
In which version has this been implemented? We too need this feature. Thanks.
Regards
Geetha

Ideally if you could assign a blueprint to run on a specific execution server, including shells etc, that would solve the overall issue.
The other option might be to assign Domains to Specific Execution Servers (https://community.quali.com/idea/796/assign-execution-server-to-domains)

As Kimo commented, we need to be able to run blueprint/orchestration scripts on a specific execution server which is associated with specific blueprints.
Natti Katz commented · Nov 25, 2021 at 11:06 AM
it is possible to specify key to have specific selector to run blueprint level commands
https://help.quali.com/Online%20Help/0.0/Portal/Content/Admn/Tst-n-Cmd-Exc.htm#Environm
generally though, any connectivity dependent automation should be incorporated into a resource / service shell and invoked from orchestration, and that way it can have its own dedicated selector.
