Daniel Delarosa suggested an idea (#3279) · Jan 23, 2018 at 07:38 PM · reservationcloudshell portal
We need the end CS user to be able to enter a SF deal number as part of the reservation so we can quantify the impact these reservations have in revenue and/or support. This OOB will allow admins to justify spending money on CS licenses so really convenient for all of you :)

Thanks for the idea @Daniel. As I understand, you're looking for a way to present your sandbox consumption data together with supporting data from Salesforce (I guess that you need to get from Salesforce information like deal sizes, close dates, opportunity owners etc.). Although we don't have plans to productize such integration right now, it could be possible to achieve the dashboard you're looking for by custom retrieval of information from Salesforce using our BI solution, which allows using external data sources for creating CloudShell dashboards. Are you using our BI solution?
If I didn't understand correctly what you're trying to achieve please let me know.
Thanks,
Maya

Hello @Maya.B You understood our requirements very well. From our chats with @Alon.S this is not possible today with BI, since what we are asking is the correlation between these two set of data. We do use BI today, and we are willing to explore a customize solution if there is a way to do this. Yet, I believe that since salesforce and CS being so popular today, an OOB solution probably will benefit a lot of customers
Thanks

Hi @Daniel,
Regardless to the option to have a direct CloudShell plugin to SalesForce (which I'll let the Product team comment about with their plans), what you can do today is to use the SalesForce and SiSense integration. You can read about it here: https://documentation.sisense.com/introduction-to-data-sources/connect-to-salesforce/
To correlate between a Sandbox to a SalesForce Opportunity, you can add a custom field within SalesForce for the Sandbox ID and add it to your Elastic Cube. Once that one-off setup is completed, users will be able to copy & paste the Sandbox ID from CloudShell to the custom field in SalesForce after the Sandbox is instantiated and by doing so you will have the missing link that will enable you to create dashboards that will correlate between the opportunity and the Sandbox.
I hope that helps for the time being.
Hi @Alon.S
Asking users to copy and paste is definitely not a good solution when what we are trying to do is automate processes. We dont need an interim solution because this is not an urgent requirement. If you can't consider it now, please close it so we can look for alternatives.
Hope it is clear by now, that we are trying to expand the use or your tool within our company but we do need to your help to make it more flexible. Hopefully your product team and roadmap will align to help us achieve our goals.
Thanks
