Kimo Saper suggested an idea (#3766) · Jun 29, 2018 at 06:08 PM · shell2g shellstandard
Modeling various components may require that the base Shell Design allow for a Disk Sub-Component be defined.
Along with port & power port
Currently when modeling a NAS or even more complex workstations, adding a standardized sub-module for the disks would aid in modeling of these resources.
In addition a "Disk" type could be used on other networking equipment to allow for specification of which flash memory modules are available for use in automation. Example 'A:' is ok to use, where 'B:' Flash is reserved for recovery, based on SOP in this lab. So in our modeling we would add the 'A:' and possible not the 'B:' or otherwise restrict the 'B:' information,
In the compute standard, it's actually a little surprising that the disk sub-type isn't modeled. Access to different storage mediums may be required for different automation and testing requirements.

Hi,
Thanks for raising this idea - we may cover it once the storage standard will be completed.
Looking forward to see more votes for this.
Thanks,,
Gal.
