Kimo Saper suggested an idea (#407) · Jul 21, 2016 at 08:30 PM · shellscloudshelldriver
Yaniv Kalsky commented · Jan 27, 2017 at 07:29 AM
When you go to the manage page of the drivers, you can active a driver (from the right 3 dots menu), and this will set the driver to any resource from the relevant models that doesn't have a driver.
You'll get a warning prior to the activation since it's not as easily reversible.
Adding a new driver doesn't always means that you want to set it to all of the existing resources with drivers - this needs to be considered carefully (which doesn't mean that you shouldn't be able to do so), and in most cases, a new driver will just be uploaded instead of the previous one.
About the last comment, working with Shells, will solve it for you when you're adding your new resource from the portal's inventory page. When you'll select the model to create a resource from, it will already be assigned to the relevant driver.

I don't understand why this idea is marked as "exists". There is no place to do what @Kimo.S would like - using the Resource Manager to change the driver for more than one resource at a time. Even @Yaniv.K's response implies that this functionality does not exist.
I just ran into this same issue and was given the same two options - do it one at a time by hand in RM, or use the APIs to write my own tool. A third option should be a "bulk update" command in Resource Manager, which I've suggested here.

Hi Jim, Following the comments on this thread i'm changing the status to Alternative available , as you mention, today you have that functionality through the API, If you require any assistance with how to implement this using the API , please contact customer success and they will be happy to assist you with the matter.
For our 2nd Generation shell this is not required since they are all using the same automation resource driver and that is managed throught the dedicated Shell section
