Maruf Yunus suggested an idea (#5340) · Jan 29, 2021 at 03:54 PM · licensingCloud
It will be nice if we could have a single license server which could serve multiple separate cloudshell instances . Lets say we purchases X number of licenses from Quali and like to use for all our cloudshell instances. For example, for Dev we setup a complete separate cloudshell instance instead of separate domain, but point that dev instance to our central cloudshell license server and allocate x number of license for Dev team so that they can use cloudshell but completely isolated for their portal/apps/db/execution. I am aware that we can have separate portal instances/executions but having this will also help to manage licenses centrally to open new geo sites as well. To further extend, It will be even nicer, if there is a cloudcomponent on cloudshell license which could automatically grab licenses from quali for overage when we go over that X max licenses and we could set on server how much overage we can allow . So quali customers (us) could have an account with quali cloud license server to allow certain overage automatically and quail could charge pay as you go for the overages.

Hi, Maruf – We're always interested in better ways to manage licenses in CloudShell Pro. We'll make this active, but it would be nice if you could provide more information. In particular, what is the problem this approach would solve?

We are interested in this too. For us the problem it would solve is that it would enable us to test more effectively. We need to test qualiserver upgrades and conflicting shells. We would prefer to create qualiserver instances as needed and have them acquire a license as needed from a shared license server. Once we finish testing we just delete the instance and it would release the license.

** License Pools are available - you use them in conjunction with domains.
If you are currently just using 'Global' for everything, then you'll need to create the domains, and prob migrate resources into specific domains. Resources and be in more than one domain.
Once that is done, create user groups, and match groups to domains for access.
Assign Licenses to pools and link them to domains:
